West Michigan Community Mental Health is the public behavioral health provider for people with mental illness, developmental disability, and substance use disorders in Lake, Mason, and Oceana counties. Our organization provides services under a contract with the State of Michigan’s Department of Community Health (DCH) to residents of our service area who have Medicaid, are under insured, or have private insurance, and who are eligible for services as defined by the Michigan Mental Health Code.

Mason County is home to Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital, which underwent a $50 million expansion in 2013. The Spectrum Health Network is nationally recognized, ranking in the top 15 medical centers in the country. The hospital provides an array of healthcare services to the region including:

  • MedNow, a telehealth program that is a fast, convenient and affordable way to receive care using technology to bridge the distance between the patient and provider
In 2015, Mercy Health, a regional healthcare entity with hospital campuses in Muskegon and Grand Rapids, announced a $3.9 million plan to expand healthcare access in Ludington. The hospital group has completed a 15,000-square-foot facility featuring a lab, urgent and primary care, cardiology and neurosurgery services.
