Online Ordering Now Available
Since its inception just one year ago, Ludington Hobbies has grown exponentially while promoting the idea that families who play together, stay together.
The store that’s become a popular stop for RC enthusiasts has already moved to a new larger location, expanded its product line, increased its online presence, and even opened a satellite store.
Owned by Brian Lefler, Ludington Hobbies is now located at 210 S. James Street. The new showroom, advertised by a 15-foot black flag, has more square footage than the previous store, and the business boasts of well-known product names in the industry, including Arrma, Horizon Hobby, Traxxas and E-Flite. In addition to RC vehicles, the business carries static model kits, model rockets, aerosol and airbrushing paint and supplies.
“Our inventory lineup is the same; however, we have greatly expanded our offerings within that lineup,” said Janet Ford, store manager. “The increased (store) size has also enabled us to carry a larger number of parts for our customers to either fix their RCs themselves, or to have on hand, so they can enlist our on staff mechanics to repair their RCs for them.”
Ford said a new track for 24th-scale crawler trucks is also in the works, and there will be six demo vehicles on hand for customer use. This track can be viewed right in the storefront window. Mountains, bridges, LED lights, and even a running-water feature, will be included, and using the track is free.
Now customers can also buy online on the store’s new e-commerce platform. Make your selection and pick up your order that day, or have it shipped directly. At ludingtonhobbies.com, you’ll find radio-controlled cars, trucks, airplanes, helicopters and boats, plus all the accessories you may need to complement your purchase. Curbside service is also an option.
Shoppers may enter “NEW10” at checkout to get 10% off all orders over $50 (with a maximum discount of $100).
Ludington Hobbies is also planning some competitive events in the near future, so be sure to watch the Facebook page for details to be announced.
“Being a part of the Ludington community has been rewarding,” Ford said. “We have many regulars whom we consider friends. We are always looking for ways to be an active part of the community outside of our store.
“We’ve had drag-race fundraisers, and our employees privately hold regular drag races that are open to the public, just for fun. We are actively helping the Twisted Sticks RC Aviation Club plan their upcoming RC car/truck track that will be over on Chauvez Road. We are also planning a huge RC event that will be held at the Ludington fairgrounds next May.”
Brian Lefler also opened Manistee Hobbies, located at 415 River St., Manistee, on September 24. It carries much of the same product line, so shoppers can be assured that “speed happens here.”
Ludington Hobbies is open 11 a.m.-7 p.m. weekdays and 9 a.m.-5 p.m. on weekends. Stop in to see what the excitement is about seven days a week!
