A once-popular tavern and bowling alley, Stix Bar and Parks Lanes, has begun a soft opening in Hamlin Township, much to the delight of the community. A grand opening celebration of the newly constructed establishment is planned for spring 2022.
Owner, Dr. Andrew Riemer, hopes Stix will be a hotspot for adult patrons seeking a night out for dinner, drinks and live music – and the bowling alley will be popular among all ages looking for family-friendly entertainment.
Located at M-116 and North Lakeshore Drive, the building boasts a lighthouse facade, similar to Dr. Riemer’s ophthalmology and optometry practice in the area. The brand-new restaurant has two stories, seating for 160, and a second-floor mezzanine providing views of the entire dining room.
An extended outdoor deck is also provided for customer dining, along with a northside beer garden and a patio at the front, which calls attention to an outdoor fireplace.
The 66-year-old former bar and bowling alley were demolished in 2020 after Riemer purchased the building. Thalman Construction of Ludington built the current structure from the ground up, completing the project this fall.
Dr. Riemer and the team were excited to open their doors to the public on November 22, allowing reservations for both dinner and bowling.
Dinner Menu
At Stix, Executive Chef Ryan Wiergna will be serving up tasty creations that are sure to please. He’s formerly been the executive chef for Ruth Chris Hospitality, with whom he won Restaurant of the Year two years straight. He has also served as executive chef at Mitchell’s Fish Market, part of the Landry Entertainment company.
A menu will be printed daily and will include steak, chicken, pork, seafood and vegetarian options. In addition to the famous Stix pizza, there will be handheld items, delicious appetizers and tempting desserts.
A full bar will offer beer on draft, wine and specialty drinks to pair with your dinner.
Park Lanes
Park Lanes, renovated by Brunswick Bowling Products, is a high-tech, world-class bowling center, Riemer said.
Brunswick has installed state-of-the-art pinsetters and lanes, as well as “SPARK” technology on six of the 12 lanes, providing a holographic bowling experience.
“Bowling with my children and grandchildren in the same location as I had bowled as a child is very rewarding,” Riemer said. “We are hopeful to provide the same experience to everyone in the community.”
