Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital is an acute care hospital that has grown with the community for more than a century.
Founded in 1906,the facility has evolved with the community’s needs to become a regional hospital, serving mainly four counties: Mason, Oceana, the southern portion of Manistee and the western portion of Lake Michigan, plus the thousands of tourists who seek our care as they enjoy the area’s vacation amenities during the summer months.
Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital has 87 inpatient beds and a wide range of services that include inpatient medical, surgical, step-down, obstetrical and critical care units. At-home services are available to provide care and health services in the home setting, including post-hospitalization care and rehabilitation services. Outpatient services include laboratory; cancer and hematology services; a full complement of medical-imaging diagnostic services, including advanced CT and MRI; a tasteful and private Women’s Imaging Center complete with digital mammography, bone density, and pelvic and breast ultrasound; comprehensive cardiopulmonary services; rehabilitation services, including cardiac and cancer rehab and sports medicine, in the area’s most comprehensive rehab facility; and an array of outpatient surgical procedures.
The hospital boasts emergency and outpatient surgery departments. Outpatient services are located near the hospital and emergency entrances, along with a separate surgery entrance. Spectrum Health has a helistop for Aero Med, and an affiliation with the Spectrum Health system, based in Grand Rapids and with 12 hospitals throughout West Michigan. It is rated one of the top 15 health care systems in the nation.
In addition, Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital has 24-hour emergency care with all-private treatment rooms, plus a “FastER track” service for treatment of less-serious illnesses and injuries, with minimal wait time; and a comprehensive sleep lab with sleep disorders testing and diagnostic services.
Specialties on the medical staff include general and vascular surgery, orthopedic surgery, pediatrics, ENT, oncology and hematology, emergency medicine, urology, and psychiatry, as well as family practice, internal medicine, anesthesiology, radiology, pathology, ophthalmology and obstetrics & gynecology. Dialysis services are offered on campus by DaVita Healthcare.
Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital is the only hospital in Mason County, and has affiliated medical offices in Ludington, Pentwater, and Hart offering both primary- and specialty-care services. The medical office in Hart, located in Oceana County, is Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital Family Medicine—a primary-care clinic with on-site laboratory and X-ray services. Many of the physician practices have chosen to integrate their services with the hospital and the Spectrum Health Medical Group, enhancing service and access to care.
